I discovered some very small pallets in my father’s garage and I jumped on the opportunity to transform them. I am a crazy recycling nut and pallets are my favorites as they transform into practically anything you touch your magic wand to. These were mini boxed pallets and I had been looking for these as I wanted to make mini flower gardens and put them up on the balcony ledge.
The DIY pallet mini flower garden is very handy, not to mention dainty, and are smart space fitters. They are recycled and Eco-friendly with almost no financial demands. Almost anything can be planted into them without any trouble.
Things I used for my DIY pallet mini flower garden:
- A dainty little wooden pallet (the flush type)
- Fabric or thick burlap
- Nails or staples
- Hammer
- Polyurethane and wood stain
- Pretty and colorful flower plants
- Soil
- The desire to create something
Duration: One lazy afternoon
Methodology:
I made the pallet wood plain by giving it a sanding over with two different grits. This was because my pallet was quite rough and I wanted a smooth surface. Once I had done this I gave it a wood stain coat and left it to dry. Once it was dry. It was the poly’s turn and once that was done, I brought out the rest of the equipment.
My pallet only had three slats and so I cut out 1 wide piece of landscape fabric and stapled it to the back of the pallet.
Starting from the bottom, I filled the space with soil. As I worked up, every time I crossed a deck opening, I pressed in my pretty petals and then continued upward.
Once it was all filled up and my plants pressed in. I gave it a slight tap to shake off excess soil.
Hands shaking with excitement, I placed it on the edge that my balcony wall has and voila, it was ready to be admired.
