Pallet art is such a great field that facilitates you everywhere and provide with plenty of objects without spending too much money. It does not need great skills and plenty of tools; the most important thing is creativity and interest to create pallet furniture. Pallet items can be produced as a result of recycling of old wooden objects. A number of useful and decor items can easily made using pallets. Pallet Coat Rack is one of such objects which have esthetic beauty and usability together.
Pallet Coat Rack Instructions
Required material:
For making a Pallet Coat Rack you do not need lots of expensive materials. You need wooden pallets, few nails, screws, steel hooks for hanging the rack on wall, hooks for rack to hang objects on them and varnish and glue. Some basic tools are also needed such as saw, hammer and sand paper for the pallet smooth. Paint brush is also required for applying varnish to the rack.
Preparation:
First of all take pallet of suitable size, if you have many small pallets, also can be used successfully. Decide the size of rack and cut the pallet accordingly. Make a rectangle with pallets; you may select a size of rectangle as 30” long and 8 or 10” wide. Provide some pallet pieces of 2 x 12” for designing in the rectangle frame. Rub the pallets with sand paper to make them smooth so that coats can be saved from damage.
Designing in Rack:
Glue the edges of small pallets and fix them on rectangle frame cross wise. Use nails for more strength apply almost three nails on each edge in symmetry. It will enhance the sturdiness of rack. Fix steel hooks with screws at the back of Pallet Coat Rack to hang it on wall. It will better if you use drill machine to make holes in wood to avoid any breakage to pallets. Instead of steel hooks steel plates with holes can be used for the same purpose. Fix hooks on the front for hanging coats in two rows, one at bottom row and other on the center of each cross.
Finishing:
After completing the joining of pallets apply one or two coats of varnish as a safety layer. It will enhance the look of Pallet Coat Rack as well as adds to its life. In the last step hang this rack on wall at your selected location. This DIY coat rack can be used near entrance or in living room.
