DIY Pallet Chicken Coop Tutorial

People make hen houses for feeding purposes of their hen to get meat and eggs from them. Pallet wood is a great ailing wood in each pallet furniture or wood carrying aspects of life, you can make it used in so may plans and trends for home exterior or interior. This time we gonna provide a wholly accomplished residence to our chickens especially for female chickens. We have constructed it from clever reclaiming and restoration of pallet wood to find something special and appreciated for hens.

We have made this DIY pallet chicken coop from primitive and old aged pallets which were lying idly in our home and we have bought them from some respectable dealers of our village in very affordable and cheap cost which was nothing before this grand and serene hen house. We have given it smashing categorized architect to our hen building which provides a separate feeding area, nesting place and egg-lying area. We have executed it with various entries and access points by providing door from pallet wood, the wondrous wood.

Clean the pallet wood and choose some powerful ones to do an act of base for hen house. We have make cuts with hand saw to fix the horizontal wooden support in between the pallets, then heavy duty and lasting about 2″ inches bolts have been added with nut to make it tight and firm to handle a lot of weight.

You should have a reasonable supply of pallet wood to do it home, we have joined together about 6 big sized pallet boards which for durable base to our chick coop, and all have assembled tight with hexagonal bolts and nuts. To add nails was not looking so perfect, we just want ultimate durability so we decided to go with bolts.

Here is recycled pallet base for chicken coop which is about 170″ inches in length and about 45″ inches in width with 8 equal and powerful leg support. The legs are about 30″ inches in peak to elevate out hen house to certain and specific height form the ground surface.

Concrete blocks provides a great aid to save the legs from water and soil effects. We have fixed a concrete block under each legs of our DIY pallet chicken coop to make the legs a little bit off the ground which will be most benefited in rainy days. The pallet boards have been intermixed firmly while all stand vertically in rectangular shape to make walls of the coop.

A pallet rack has been separately build to fix at one corner of the chicken coop. It contain about 4 cabinets and is 20″ inches in depth and the whole rack has 55″X55″ inches area which is wide enough for storage of feeding food for the hens and various tools at a time can be secured in this countered and ledged setting.

Applying CDX plywood at the doors

To beautify the whole wooden frame we have applied CDX plywood which gives peak beauty and garnished to wooden skeleton and also helps the wood by providing an endured and adorable coverage. We have selected about 1.5″ inches plywood for this snug and highly worthy hen house.

The super spec grey shade has been applied to rank it up to a styled and quality material we have used about 3″ inches brush tool for this purpose. If you have a lot of helping family member and friends then this would be much fun and easy to do in order to save a lot of time.

We have gritted it wholly with perfect electrical palm sander which is popular in time saving and sanding the wood in high valued and grade for sharp and attractive wooden effects and impacts. You can also do this job with orbital sander, if not use simple sand paper to dignify the wood.

2.5" inches door bolt

We have selected about 2.6″ inches anchor bolts to fix our main entry doors to our DIY pallet chicken coop. The bolt has been selected in stainless steel nature to be fixed and for a long time gripped support.  We have used these bolts in 6 to 8 which can be increased if needed.

The top is a optional subject in our opinion and go for different natures and styles with wood and metal. you can change its mode form horizontal to chevron or any angles and sloppy design you like. You have full opportunity to provide it lasting metal shelter. We have used steel net to avoid escaping of hens while eating food like grains and seeds at under of it.

Anchor bold has been made tight and give support to the entry and make to make it reliable for several next year to come. We have tried to solve the durability issues wholly to avoid any type of loss and which can be dangerous to our hens which are a very beautiful but delicate creation.

This is the back door access to our DIY pallet chicken coop to reach it from any side without walking round and round. We have use a perfect net of chicken wire to which is very effective in guarding our hens to be prayed from the predators like cats.

This is the nesting interior for hens to hatch eggs for next breed and to sleep and rest in it. Whole wooden environment has been created with pallet wood by going on with a perfect plan for better and supporting residence to our chickens.

We have hinged all the doors with stable and longstanding hardware hinges which also give a smooth flow for opening and closing of doors. An old window from home scrap has been added to door accent for phenomenal visual effects.

You can approach that cabinet and rack fixed up to modernize the working, from back side too to get anything you have placed in. The hens can also lay eggs in them which you can collect easily from there to have a lovely and healthy breakfast.

You can enjoy the chicken ramp on this perfect sliding path, which leads to the grand hen house and can be closed inside with a yellow colored supporting rope. Some chicken symbols have also been provided to get it displayed for your lovely chickens.

The paint in grey shade is oil based battle ship color and looking so fine and tremendous that every looking eye get stayed to it to a while. We have highlight the main entry for our chickens or roosters to get in in splendid and enjoyable way. The whole scene will be peaceful and soothing while seeing the coming out hen from this grand hens hotel.

This is the feeding area for our chickens that can eat almost every type of food like fruits, vegetables, rice, grains, seeds and also the little snakes and bugs due to being omnivores. The all types of chicken love the soil to play and sleep, the same conditions and predictions can be seen here.
