DIY Pallet Planter Boxes Tutorial

We just needed a planter at the main entry to home and want it to be fit in the side wall of main entry to home. How to find such a big planter on a budget? This was the question that made us puzzled several times. While we were taking a visit of our backyard we found a rustic pallet skid there and it was looking much healthy.

We reexamined it for some time and dire need of planter for home awakened the creative person in us and we reclaimed a DIY pallet planter from it with just a few and much simple steps that anyone can do at home. We have given all the instructions and steps to make you complete guide with what we have done.

If you choose a comfortable working place then this DIY pallet project will be much fun and you will enjoy the construction.

We made a soapy water solution and give the pallets a complete wash with a cleaning brush tool to remove that unpleasing wooden surface layer and gunk which have both a bad impression.

After making the pallets cleaned and alluring we placed it before the sun to be dried up well. If the sun light is intense enough it would take only 15 to 20 minutes to be dried completely.

Now here comes the most creative part of the construction, we cut the pallet into halves from the middle and reassembled those halves facing backsides. You can see the back of the pallet that there were to planks one at top and one at bottom. We plucked them up and nailed them to join the sides and ends of the two pallet haves together.

It came up with three most cozy options to be planted. A middle narrow portion and two equal sides portions. You can make it splinter free and shiny by sanding it with sandpaper or electrical sander.

Then we make it stained to give some more power to the wood, we have used the dark brown shade of stained which made it more fetching and handsome. Now the only thing left was to give it a burlap or plastic fabric cloth to make it capable to hold the potting soil. We did this step from the mattress cloth which was no longer useable home after breaking up our bed.

stapling of cloth to hold the soil

We cut the top of mattress and push it in the planter that it settled well wholly in the DIY wooden planter box. Then we stapled its edges to the wooden boarders and it is ready now to get in the potting soil.

The mattress was blue in colors and can be seen through the gaps, which was making not a good impression. So want to make the gaps covered but how to get them filled? If we have used the wood to cover it as whole it would have increased our budget. So an idea of using rope with glue came to us, which we have learned on the internet so we removed the gaps with nice covering with rope by layering the glue along the rope.

The rope lining dressed it up just to kill! And this DIY garden planter as a whole held much precious to whole of our family and they just loved it. We have spent no cost on these DIY pallet garden ideas and achieved this lovely station for natural flowers or herbs cultivation in it which will compliment great the home entry.
